Abstract. It’s an undeniable fact that education makes a significant contribution into the development of civic position of people, helps them get in close contact with universal history and culture. It expands intercultural horizons of human nature and forms of his/her tolerant attitude to the spiritual and material spheres of life of other nations. There is no doubt, that a true citizen of the country can only be an educated person. The article investigates the experience of the Finnish education and schooling and draws some conclusions about the real educational needs of today’s learners.
