Abstract. Potent biological active new compounds comprising 5oxotetrahydrofuran, aromatic, sulfamoyl, and heteroaromatic fragments were synthesized according to two strategies from 2-(2,2-dimethyl-5- oxotetrahydrofuran3-yl)acetyl chloride and analgesic and sulfanilamide drugs. The methodologies are simple, rapid, and inexpensive affording high yields of the products with operational simplicity.
