Reading is a skill that should never be neglected, as it is a source of new vocabulary for learners. On the other hand, the learner sees vocabulary in a context. It is also a good way of learning vocabulary. Paul Nation and James Coady propose a strategy for developing guessing skills that students must learn and use to infer the meaning of unknown words in a reading passage. Suberviola (2002) also points out the steps of this strategy in her article.
