In article theoretical aspects of forecasting, in particular its essence, types, forecasting methods are considered. Need of forecasting for management of education is proved. Indicators of planned and predictive function of management are given. Strategic tasks are developed for governing bodies of education on development of management of analytical and expert activity. Priorities are defined and measures of support and development of analytical and expert activity in education are proposed.
