Creativity, as one of the hallmarks of excellence in language teaching, is often considered in opposition to planning. Some language teachers even suggest that ‘planning KILLS creativity’. However, the advocates of the stance overlook the fact that it is very difficult to be creative in the world of ubiquitous information on language learning and teaching today and only few analytical minds are capable of 'telling the head from tail of the stick', as the materials of often ambiguous quality cause digression or even chaos in the teaching/learning process.
