Abstraction. In the article are analysed the ideological, thematic and language peculiarities of Spain author Juan Valera’s novel «Juanita la Larga». The writer tries in transitional period for Spain, by keeping the specific way of thinking and language peculiarities of people of concrete region, to reveal the local problems of theirs, and at the same time to attach a great importance to the general national problems. We aimed to follow how masterly he solves this task. That is why Juan Valera is considered to be one of the best Spanish prose- writers in that difficult transitional epoch.
