Transition from primary to secondary school has been identified as a significant issue for young adolescents, as this period is associated with a range of behavioral problems, and a substantial decline in academic performance.

Junior High School is a more competitive environment, with academic emphasis and demand for study achievements, study differentiation (groupings and study courses), stress of exams and traditional teaching methods compounded by loose relationships between teachers and pupils and little parents' involvement. Ministry of Education relates to Junior High and High schools as a single sequence, a single unit. Therefore, educational processes in Junior High School are formed according to the model of High school. Junior High School prepares the pupils to the required norms in High School more than constituting a continuation to the educational processes of the Primary school.
